Business: The Meaning of the Business
is the state of being busy. The main aim of the business is to earn Profit.
The etymology of "business" relates to the state of being busy
either as an individual or society, doing commercially viable and profitable
work. The term "business" has at least three usages, depending
on the scope — the singular usage (above) to mean a particular company
or corporation, the generalized usage to refer to a particular market
sector, such as "the record business," or the broadest meaning
to include all activity by the community of suppliers of goods and services.
However, the exact definition of business, like much else in the philosophy
of business, is a matter of debate.
Investment: Investment or investing is a
term with several closely-related meanings in business management, finance
and economics, related to saving or deferring consumption. An asset is
usually purchased, or equivalently a deposit is made in a bank, in hopes
of getting a future return or interest from it. The word originates in
the Latin "vestis", meaning garment, and refers to the act of
putting things (money or other claims to resources) into others' pockets. A futures exchange is a central financial exchange where people can trade standardized futures contracts; that is, a contract to buy specific quantities of a commodity or financial instrument at a specified price with delivery set at a specified time in the future Natur of Futur Exchange contact: Exchange traded contracts are not issued like securities, but they are "created" when one party buys (goes long) a contract from another party (who goes short). In the beginning there are no contracts, so the number of long contracts must equal the number of short contracts. This always goes through the exchange, which means that the exchange is the counter party for all trades. However, the exchange does not take any net positions. In this way clients do not know with whom they have ultimately traded. Compare this with securities, in which an issuer issues the security. After that, it is a legal entity that is traded independently of the issuer. Even if the issuer buys back some securities, they still exist. Only if they are legally canceled can they disappear. |
